Title: Nanostructured coatings with tailored optical functionality
Session: Tuesday 6 October, 10:30

The functionality of high tech coatings is determined both by the coating chemistry and its nanostructure. The nanostructure can be applied using a texturing process such as nanoimprint lithography, or can be realized through use of nanoparticles. In this presentation, various examples of nanostructured optical coatings will be presented, ranging from moth-eye textured, high refractive index antireflective coatings for use on aluminum-doped zinc oxide to ultra-low refractive index coatings based on random packing of silicated cellulose nanocrystals.
